Our Venue
171 Armada Way is a city centre shop that used to be the Woolwich Building Society, but which had been empty for about four years before the charity Healthy Planet offered it to Transition Plymouth for our temporary use. It consists of a large foyer and counter area, with four smaller rooms and a large kitchen and toilets on the ground floor. Upstairs there are five meeting rooms of various sizes, and a Peace room for limited range of activities which might include things like meditation, yoga, visioning and/or singing.
At Transition Plymouth we are delighted with our new home, and would be happy for this very central building to become a community asset, a hub, a shop in the town centre with nothing to sell. We want it to bring together those people, groups and organisations who are interested in activities that connect people and the planet rather than setting them against each other. According to Healthy Planet’s criteria any non-commercial groups who share the Healthy Planet ethos are welcome to use this space for talks, discussions, meetings, social gatherings etc. There is no fee, but you’re welcome to make a donation of your own choosing.
For small, one-off gatherings there is a short form to complete that tells us, Transition Plymouth, what you’re about. For larger or more regular events you’ll need to obtain the go-ahead from Healthy Planet, so contact us if you’re interested and we can explain how it works. Get in touch, too, if you want to come and have a look round.
You can contact Transition Plymouth by email or by phone.

Coming Soon to 171:
A group of us are meeting to discuss setting up an art and craft group, with children's art activities and an 'eco music' workshop being set up. There are film evenings and discussion groups being planned, details will be posted here as soon as they are ready.
